Veneers can close spaces between teeth and adjust for teeth that are too large or small. Ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to stains from substances like coffee, tea, or tobacco.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. These thin pieces are bonded to the front of your teeth, and are generally used to improve the overall look of your teeth, especially if you have teeth that are uneven, chipped, stained or crooked.
Teeth Whitening or Bleaching
Teeth whitening or bleaching have become a widely used and popular way to whiten smiles. Many factors, including dietary habits (drinking coffee, tea, soda, and red wine) and certain medications, affect the whiteness of your smile. Tooth whitening is an affordable, effective and safe way to combat common causes of tooth discoloration, while boosting your self-confidence and improving your appearance.
The whitening gel removes stains from the enamel of your teeth. It will not however, lighten your fillings, veneers or crowns. We offer custom-fitted trays for your mouth that hold bleaching gels. These trays are used at home, for 1-2 hours per day and the results take 2- 4 weeks.
Once your teeth reach your preferred brightness, only occasional treatments are needed to maintain your new smile. The prescription strength gel is only available through a dentist, because it is a much stronger and more effective than any over the counter tooth whitener. For touch-ups, you can buy additional bleaching gel as needed at our office.
Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that can restore primarily front teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, decayed or have spaces in between them. Bonding is also used to protect exposed tooth roots that result from gum recession.
The bonding process involves Coos Bay cosmetic dentist Dr. Lori Lemire preparing the tooth surface with an etching solution and allows the bonding material (resins) to adhere to the tooth. Color resins are blended to match the color of existing teeth and look completely natural. Bonding typically lasts three to five years or even longer before need of repair.
